Moanalua's Kristina Merkle wins girls state golf title; Punahou takes team title

Kristina Merkle of Moanalua shot a 1-over-par 72 today to win the HHSAA/David Ishii Foundation Golf Championships at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course on Maui.

Merkle shot a 2-over 73 Tuesday and won by five shots over Kauai's Kelli Oride (76). Merkle entered today's final round with a one-shot lead over three golfers, including Oride.

Punahou won the team title with a 469 score. Baldwin (474) and Waiakea (475) followed.
