Filipino Fiesta in Waikiki Saturday

The Filipino community is putting a huge celebration in Waikiki on Saturday, with a parade, entertainment all afternoon in Kapiolani Park, culminating with the Santacruzan procession.

The 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. event includes a mid-morning historical-cultural parade from Fort DeRussy to Kapi'olani Park, leading into an afternoon of entertainment, food and product sales at the park.

The Santacruzan will feature Filipino beauty queens and their escorts marching in a candle-lit procession accompanied by children dressed in angels and musicians performing hymns.

The 17th Annual Filipino Fiesta is free to the public. For more information, call 680-0451.
