Hawaii weather: A few showers likely later today

A weak surface ridge just north of the islands will provide gentle to moderate easterly winds through the rest of week into early next week, the Natioinal Weather Service said.

Showers carried by the winds will affect mainly the windward and mountain areas, though daytime sea breezes will produce afternoon clouds and even some light showers for the leeward areas, according to the forecast.

Here's how the weekend weather is shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 84. North wind around 5 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Calm wind becoming east between 4 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Isolated showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. Northeast wind around 8 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Isolated showers before midnight. Widespread haze. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
