Dr. Aytun Ozturk has been appointed dean of Hawai'i Pacific University's College of Business Administration. He plans to maintain and nurture HPU's relationships with the business community, which provides guest lecturers and classroom teachers.

STARWOOD HOTELS

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawai'i has named Paula Dirks director of group sales. A former member of Starwood's Hawai'i 'ohana, Dirks will be based at the regional office in Honolulu and will be responsible for managing the largest repeat group of customers in the Starwood Hawai'i Region.

BENNET GROUP

Bennet Group Strategic Communications has promoted Crystal Yamasaki to senior account executive. Part of the Consumer Marketing Division, she works with clients in the health, education, travel and retail industries to develop results-driven communication strategies and campaigns.

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI'I

The University of Hawai'i Board of Regents has approved the appointment of Windward Community College chancellor Angela Meixell as interim state director for career and technical education for one year, starting July 1, 2009. Current director Karla Jones is retiring from the position in June.

HAWAII STATE BAR ASSOCIATION

Honolulu attorney Rai Saint Chu is the 2009 president of the Hawaii State Bar Association. She has been actively involved in the evolution of the association, having served on the boards of both the Hawaii State Bar Association and Young Lawyers Division. She was one of the founding members of Hawaii Women Lawyers.

JAMBA JUICE

Jamba Juice Hawaii has promoted Joe Mendoza to general manager of its Old Lahaina location. In charge of day-to-day operations, he was previously assistant general manager at Jamba Maui Marketplace.
