Storto's Deli & Sandwich Shoppe, a fixture in Hale'iwa since 1977, is launching a statewide expansion.

The first outlet outside of Hale'iwa is set to open Friday in Kaimuki at 3184 Wai'alae Ave., with grand-opening festivities starting at 6 p.m.

Jamie DeMatoff, who has a licensing agreement with the deli's founders, Pam and Brian Jett, said he hopes to open five more Storto's on O'ahu by the end of next year. Stores on Kaua'i and Maui are planned in 2011, he said.

The Kaimuki store will create 10 jobs in the community at a time when the economy is struggling and the statewide unemployment rate is at a 31-year high.

DeMatoff said he got the idea to expand after being a loyal Storto's customer for more than 25 years. "It was a daily event in college and even today when I am on the North Shore to go to Storto's after a surf session," he said.

MOKULELE PARTNERS WITH EXPEDIA

Mokulele Airlines announced that the interisland airline has a new partnership with Expedia.

Beginning today, all of Mokulele's published fares, schedules and inventory will be available to passengers at www.expedia.com.

The partnership should make it easier to book flights for passengers, said Scott Durgin, interim chief executive officer of Mokulele Airlines. "We think this will be good for both visitors from the Mainland and locals."

"Hawai'i is one of the most popular destinations on Expedia, and we're pleased to extend Mokulele's service to our travelers," said Greg Schulze, vice president of transport and tour for Expedia.

The 6,000-square-foot bank is located next to Foodland Marketplace.
