Clues sought over damaged windows

Big Island police are asking the public's help in identifying whoever was responsible for a series of recent window-breakings.

Between 10:15 and 10:20 Monday night, windows at three homes in the Waiakea area were damaged by marbles that were either thrown or launched with a slingshot.

A window at a downtown Hilo business was damaged by a marble late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Anyone with information about these cases or similar incidents is asked to call acting Sgt. Aubrey Auna of the South Hilo Patrol at 808-961-2213 or the Police Department's nonemergency number at 808-935-3311.

People may also call CrimeStoppers at 808-961-8300 in Hilo or 808-329-8181 in Kona.

WATER SHUTOFF SET FOR PARTS OF KAPA'A

Water will be shut off in areas of Kapa'a on May 28 while crews install a connecting pipeline for a new water tank, the Kaua'i Department of Water said yesterday.

The work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. and expected to be completed by 4 the next morning.

Water service will be cut during those hours.

The affected areas are Keapana, Kapahi and Kapa'a Homesteads, including all three Kapa'a public schools and Mahelona Hospital.

A CHANCE TO LEARN ABOUT MICRONESIANS

A community discussion on "The Micronesians: Our Newest Neighbors" is set for May 21 at the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew.

The event will feature Micronesian leaders who will talk about their culture and the Micronesian residents of Hawai'i.

Micronesian artifacts will be on display.

The free event will start at 6:45 p.m. in the Van Holt Room.
