Man indicted for 2nd-degree murder in beating death

A 44-year-old man has been indicted on a charge of second-degree murder in what a prosecutor called a "love triangle situation."

Paul Kaeo is accused of fatally beating Charles Kahumoku Jr., 49, last week in Ma'ili.

Kaeo "brutally bludgeoned his estranged wife's boyfriend to death with a metal rod," Deputy Prosecutor Adrian Dhakhwa said in court yesterday.

Kahumoku was sitting in his parked truck waiting to pick up Debbie Kaeo, when he was allegedly beaten by Kaeo.

Kahumoku was taken to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, where he was pronounced dead.
