Getting healed, ready, rested for the Nelson

 •  'Aloha Season' gets huge boost from SBS

Join us as we travel on the PGA Tour with Parker McLachlin, a former Punahou athlete. McLachlin and Castle alum Dean Wilson are the only Hawai'i golfers on the PGA Tour. McLachlin, Waikoloa's touring pro, will write his impressions on events that he has just completed and tournaments that are coming up on his calendar.

I'm back in Scottsdale after a few tough days at The Players. If you were able to follow along you could see I got some momentum going for six or seven holes, but would have it derailed by one or two bad swings or breaks. As I mentioned last week, it's a great event because of the field, but also the golf course is a really good test. I tweaked my wrist just a bit and have been resting it since I've been back home to get ready for the Nelson next week.

Thank you to those who sent in e-mails with questions for this week's Postcard, we got some great ones. If I wasn't able to get to your question I'm sorry and I'll save it for next time.

What's the most nervous you've ever been on the golf course? The 2006 PGA Qualifying School, when I got through the first time. It wasn't a particular shot or moment, but the entire process. It built up all week, I didn't sleep much at all, I didn't eat much, and I was a nervous wreck. Although that ended up well I hope it's something I don't have to go through again.

What's your favorite and least favorite part of being on the PGA Tour? I'll start with the positives. If I had to say one thing, I really enjoy the golf courses we play and the tests they provide. They are manicured perfectly and we go from world-class course to world-class course every week. As for my least favorite aspect of the tour, it's living out of my suitcase and being away from the comforts of home for weeks at a time.

If you could take one part of someone else's game on tour who and what would it be? I'm really working hard on driving the golf ball better and for me, personally, I would have Hunter Mahan's driving ability. He is long and consistently in the fairway.

When you return to Hawai'i what is the one thing you always enjoy doing? Great question! No matter what, I try and get in the ocean within the first few hours of being back in Hawai'i. I just love it!

Thanks for the questions and I look forward to chatting with you in a few weeks!

Aloha, Parker
