HILO — Hawaii County police have arrested a 44-year-old Pepeekeo man in connection with methamphetamine trafficking.

Carlito Castillo was arrested Tuesday by Ice Task Force officers after a search warrant helped them uncover 3.1 grams of ice from Castillo in the parking lot of the Orchidland Wikiwiki Mart.
A search warrant was drafted for Castillo’s sport utility vehicle after a police dog indicated more drugs.
Officers recovered another 2.2 grams of methamphetamine from the SUV as well as a digital scale, pipe, and numerous empty plastic packets.
Castillo was charged with promotion of a dangerous drug, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine trafficking offenses. Bail was set at $12,000.
