WAC Tournament tickets now on sale

Tickets for the this fall's Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament, Nov. 23 to 25 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, are on sale. All-session tickets are $45. To purchase, call 888-234-2334 or visit http://www.orleansarena.com.

Single-session tickets are $20 and go on sale at a date closer to the tournament.

The top two seeds get a first-round bye, with seeds Nos. 3 to 6 playing opening night. Semifinal matches are tentatively set for 5 p.m. at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 24, with the championship Nov. 25, at a time to be determined by TV.

The tournament champion earns the conference's automatic NCAA berth.

Tickets are also on sale for this year's NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship, Dec. 17 and 19, at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla. Fans can purchase all-session tickets for $60 by calling 813-301-2500 or visiting http://www.sptimesforum.com.

In other volleyball news, Kamehameha graduate Jordan Meredith, a Boston College freshman, is on the 11-player USA Women's Junior National A2 team. Team USA will play an international tournament in Croatia in July.

Hawai'i Baptist junior Sarah Palmer is one of three liberos named to the U.S. Girls' Youth National Training Team. The 19-member team will work out at the U.S. Olympic Training Center before the roster is trimmed to 12. That group represents the U.S. at the 2009 FIVB Girls' Youth World Championship, July 3 to 12 in Thailand.

'Iolani graduate Brad Lawson and Punahou graduate Erik Shoji, now Stanford teammates, are among the 19 players who will try out for the U.S. Men's Junior National Team. It will play in the FIVB World Championship, July 31 to Aug. 9, in India. Academy of the Pacific graduate Tri Bourne, now playing for USC, is one of three alternates.
