Police wasted no time in kicking off their annual 'Click It or Ticket' seat-belt enforcement campaign this morning.

As state Department of Transportation deputy director Jiro Sumada and Honolulu police Maj. Thomas Nitta held a news conference at the intersection of South Beretania and Isenberg streets to launch the program, motorcycle officers were waving unbuckled motorists over and writing them up on the spot.
'Click It or Ticket' is run on all four counties and will be in effect from today through the end of the month.
Hawaii traditionally is among the top three states in seat belt usage, with well over 90 percent of motorists and their passengers strapped in.
Last year, Hawaii was second to Michigan in seat belt usage, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report.
Michigan’s seat belt use rate was 97.3, with Hawaii’s at 97.0 and Washington State’s at 96.5.
If you're one of Hawaii's unbuckled 3 percent, consider yourself warned.
