Informational meeting planned May 27 for Maui recycling center

An informational meeting to discuss a proposed site for a West Maui Recycling and Redemption Center will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 6:30 p.m., the Maui County Department of Environmental Management announced today.

The meeting will be held at the West Maui Senior Center at 778 Pauoa Street in Lahaina.
The proposed site for the recycling and redemption center is at the intersection of Front Street, Ala Moana Street and Mala Wharf Approach Road between the existing wastewater Pump Station No. 4 and Puupiha Cemetery.
Plans for the proposed center include several large roll-off containers to collect recyclable items, and a HI-5 redemption center for beverage containers.
The meeting will include a presentation and an opportunity for the public to provide input. Oral or written comments will be accepted after the meeting, until 4:30 p.m. on June 10 and may be submitted to the Director’s Office, Department of Environmental Management by phone (808) 270-8230 or by mail to One Main Plaza, 2200 Main Street, Suite 100, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793.
