Steven Anderson’s three-run homer with one out in the top of the ninth inning lifted fourth-seeded New Mexico State over third-seeded Fresno State, 7-4, today in the second game of the NAPA Auto Parts Western Athletic Conference baseball tournament at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Aggies (42-15) will play at 7 p.m. tomorrow against the winner of the Hawai‘i-Louisiana Tech game. The Bulldogs (28-28) will play top-seeded San Jose State at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
Scott Coffman (3-0) pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief, allowing a run. Jake Wilson allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth for his third save.
Holden Sprague (6-4) allowed the three-run homer during his 1 2/3 innings of relief for the defending College World Series champions.
The Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the first just three batters into the game. Richard Stout led off with a walk, took second on Nate Shaver’s flare single to left and scored on Jeffrey Farnham’s ground single to center.
But the lead was short-lived, as the Bulldogs took the lead just two batters into the bottom of the first, when Danny Muno led off with a walk and Dusty Robinson followed with a two-run home run to left-center to put FSU ahead, 2-1.
Simon had command issues in the fourth, when the Bulldogs added a run. Trent Garrison singled with one one and Isacc Vivas was hit by a pitch. Muno singled to load the bases and Robinson walked — the fifth by Simon in the game — to force across a run to increase FSU’s lead to 3-1.
The Aggies got a run in the fifth. Stout led off with a single and took second on Nate Shaver’s single. After advancing on Farnham’s sacrifice, Stout scored on Bryan Marquez’s single to right to pull NMSU to 3-2.
The Aggies threatened to tie in the seventh. Stout led off with a walk before Shaver fouled out to third. Stout stole second and went to third when Farnham grounded out to first. Morse was pulled for Gene Escat to face Marquez, who flied out to left to end the threat.
The Aggies regained the lead in the eighth. Mike Sodders led off with a double and was lifted for pinch runner Steven Anderson before Wade Reynoso struck out. Escat was pulled for the left-handed Josh Poytress to face the left-handed hitting Leo Aguirre, who tripled to left-center to scored Anderson to tie the game at 3.
Poytress was replaced by Holden Sprague to face Steve Decater, who lined a single to center against a drawn-in infield to score Aguirre to give NMSU a 4-3 lead.
The Bulldogs tied it in the botom of th eighth against Scott Coffman. Garrison singled with one out and was lifted for pinch runner Trent Soares. After Vivas struck out, Muno singled to left, scoring Soares, but Muno was caught in a rundown between first and second to end the inning.
In the top of the ninth, Shaver led off with a single and took second avoidng a tag when Farnham grounded out to second. Marquez was intentionally walked, but Anderson drilled a three-run homer to left-center to put the Aggies in front, 7-4.
