The body of a woman found May 13 in a ravine off Waimano Trail has been positively identified as Gail Yoshida, who was the subject of a massive search after she went missing May 3.

The city medical examiner’s office released Yoshida’s identity today, although the cause of death is pending further investigation.
Yoshida, 63, disappeared May 3 while walking her dog. Police, fire and Department of Land and Natural Resources crews joined family members to search for Yoshida. Several people reported seeing her as she walked her dog, Maile, behind Pearl City High School and near the Waimano Trail, but search teams were unable to find her.
On May 13, Yoshida’s mixed-breed terrier ran toward Yoshida family members who were at a park looking for her. That renewed the search effort and Yoshida’s body was found in a stream bed in Waimano Valley.
