WAC Baseball tournament - 3. Fresno St. Bulldogs

Compiled by Stacy Kaneshiro

COACH: Mike Batesole
RECORD: 28-27 overall, 12-12 WAC
VS. UH: Split series at Fresno State
VS. OTHERS: 2-2 vs. New Mexico State; 0-4 at Louisiana Tech; 2-2 at San Jose State; 2-2 vs. Nevada, 2-2; 4-0 at Sacramento State.
RPI: 180
PLAYERS TO WATCH: 2B Danny Muno (.372, 72 runs, 22 doubles, 61 walks, 13 steals), 3B Tom Mendonca (.348, 24 HRs, 74 RBIs), LF Dusty Robinson (.341, 12 doubles, 12 HRs, 40 RBIs), RHP Holden Sprague (6-3, 4.33, 62 K, 15 BB in 89° IP).
OUTLOOK: It appears the Bulldogs have found their swagger at the right time. The defending league and College World Series champions were on the brink of elimination entering the final weekend. They not only got in, but jumped from seventh place to earn the third seed by winning eight of their last 10 games. The only thing that stopped them from a 10-game win streak was UH's doubleheader sweep to split the series at Beiden Field; that split clinched a tourney berth for UH. Though technically tied with New Mexico State up to the first four tiebreakers, it came down to their records against top-seeded San Jose State (the Bulldogs split with the Spartans, while the Aggies were 1-3 against SJSU).
