Point Loma Nazarene senior Sam Cyr, a King Kekaulike graduate from Makawao, won his second-straight NAIA Golf Championship today, shooting an even-par 71 to finish with a three-shot victory at TPC at Deere Run Golf Course in Silvis, Ill.

Cyr (72-72-67-71) finished the four-round tournament at 2-under 282 to beat Texas Wesleyan’s Armando Villareal (285). Cyr was the only golfer to finish the tournament under par and he is the first golfer to win back-to-back titles since North Florida’s Jamie Burns in 1992 and 1993.
Cyr’s 67 in Thursday’s third round moved him into first place with a five-shot lead. He had 10 pars and four birdies in the final round.
The win was the 12th for Cyr and he finishes his career as a four-time All-American.
Oklahoma Christian won the team title and Point Loma Nazarene finished tied for 12th.
