Raquel (Nancy) Andres, of Stockton, Calif., formerly of Maui, died March 28, 2009. Good Shepherd Episcopal Church organist and executive director of the church's Youth Choir and Dance Troupe; coordinator of the County of Maui Immigrant Services office from 1977 to 1981; also worked with Maui Savings and Loan Association and American Savings Bank. Survived by husband, Justo; son, Ferdinand; grandchildren, Marley and Logan; sister, Madeline Ruiz. Abraham "Abe" Nathan Arkoff, 86, of Honolulu, died May 17, 2009. Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa. University of Hawai'i-Manoa professor; creator of his signature workshop, The Illuminated Life; created and directed three popular university-based programs (The College Experience Seminar Program; The Mainland Semester Program; and The Freshman Seminar Program) that pioneered the use of peer-mentoring models and Mainland practicum placements. Survived by wife, Susan; daughter, Amy; son, Ty; brothers, Harold and Robert; nieces; nephews. Celebration of life 10 a.m. Tuesday at Arcadia Retirement Residence; refreshments to follow. No flowers. James A. Frazier, 71, of Waimea, Hawai'i, died May 13, 2009. Born in Honolulu. Retired C. Brewer executive including Brewer Chemical, Kilauea Agronomics and Ka'u Sugar Co.; also director of Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawai'i. Survived by wife, Judy; mother, Nancy; daughters, Sharolyn Duhaime and Debora Schultz; brother, Richard; sister, Bonnie Andrew; two grandchildren. Celebration of life June 20 at Kawaihae Canoe Club.
