Three companies have been awarded contracts for waste water projects totaling $20.9 million by the city.

The low bidders were Bodell Construction Company, Frank Coluccio Construciton Company and MIRA Image Construction. Bodell was awarded the contract for the Kailua Wastewater Plant and Collection System Odor Control Improvement project. The project involves injecting chemicals into two pretreatment facilities, one pump station and at the plant to control odors.
The project is set to begin in November and take about 15 months to complete.
Coluccio will begin working on the Kailua/Kaneohe Sewer Manhole and Pipe Structural Rehabilitation project that will begin in November and should take nine months to complete.
MIRA will work on sewer projects on Kahanu Street, School Street and Umi Street. New pipes and new manholes will be installed. No date was given by the city on when the project would begin and how long it would take.
