Draft solid waste plan now available for public review

Advertiser Staff

Kaua'i County has completed a draft Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan, which is posted online and available in libraries for public review.

The plan is the county's blueprint for short- and long-term management of its municipal solid waste programs, which include landfill location and operation, as well as recycling and green waste programs.

The draft plan is available at www.kauai.gov, all Kaua'i public libraries and the county Solid Waste office in the Mo'ikeha Building at the Lihu'e Civic Center.

Comments on the plan are being accepted by the county until June 9 via e-mail to afraley@kauai.gov or normal mail to Allison Fraley, County of Kaua'i, Solid Waste Division, 4444 Rice St., Suite 275, Lihu'e, HI 96766.

After the public review period, the plan will be finalized and submitted to the County Council for adoption. The plan will then be sent to the state Department of Health for final approval.

For more information, contact Fraley at 808-241-4837 or afraley@kauai.gov.
