Wayside's restrooms will be closed in June for repairs

Advertiser Staff

The restrooms at Kaumahina Wayside along Hana Highway will be closed throughout June for flooring improvements. Portable toilets will be provided in the parking area during the closure, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources said.

The project includes installation of ceramic floor tiles, tile and grout sealant to provide durable and sanitary flooring that is easier to clean and maintain for park users, the agency said.

Normal park hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The park gate will be closed overnight to prevent vandalism.

Kaumahina Wayside, 28 miles from Kahului Airport, is a forested rest stop on 7.8 acres, with picnicking, exotic plants and scenic viewpoint of the northeast Maui coastline.
