San Jose Earthquakes defender Chris Leitch was suspended for one game and fined $250 by MLS for a harsh challenge on Brian Ching in a game against Houston last week.

Leitch appeared to hit Ching in the face with his knee as he went for a loose ball. Ching walked off with blood running down his face.

Leitch, who was not given a yellow card on the play, will miss San Jose's game against Columbus on Wednesday night.
