Hawaii health centers receive stimulus funds

Associated Press

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is releasing just over $450,000 to support community health centers in Hawaiçi.

That’s according to Hawaiçi Congressman Neil Abercrombie, who said the grant is part of President Barack Obama’s stimulus funds.
The funding will be distributed among 18 community health centers to help with the rising costs of services.
About 40 percent of health center patients nationwide have no insurance coverage.
Abercrombie says until health care is more affordable and more accessible, community health centers will continue to provide essential care for Hawaiçi families that don’t have insurance or can’t afford the high cost of health care.
