Three homeless after fire destroys unit in Waimanalo duplex

Two adults and one child are homeless after fire destroyed one of two units in a Waimänalo duplex this morning.

The fire was reported at 10:45 a.m. Honolulu Fire Department crews arrived to find flames coming from two bedrooms in the back of the unit. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes but the unit was rendered uninhabitable, according to HFD spokesperson Capt. Robert Main.
No one was home at the time of the blaze.
The fire caused $250,000 damage to the structure and $50,000 to its contents.
The Red Cross is assisting the people displaced by the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
