The Doris Duke Theatre’s “Six Cinematic Views of Japan: Japanese Film Series” this weekend features Takeshi Kaneshiro, starring in “K-20: The Fiend with Twenty Faces.”
The 2008 film, directed by Shimako Sato, is based on the “retro-futuristic” romance novel by Soh Kitamura. The film is a thriller, set in an alternate universe where World War II bypassed Japan, the Meiji Era never ended and nobility is still in place, with aristocrats owning 90 percent of the wealth in the capital of Teito. K-20 is a thief who preys on the super-rich, and Heikichi Endo (Kaneshiro) is a circus clown mistaken for the thief and imprisoned. For more on the film, visit www.honoluluacademy.org.

Show times are 1, 4 and 7:30 p.m. today and tomorrow, with more showings through Thursday. Tickets are $8 general, $5 for Honolulu Academy of Arts members, $7 for students and seniors and $3 for children 12 and younger. Call 532-8768 for information.
