Kupuna, caregivers and others interested in aging issues and preventive care can head to Windward Mall's Senior Health Day Fair today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the center court.

The free event includes health seminars, blood pressure screenings and exhibits on dentistry, exercise, diabetes, vaccines, banking, health care, social services and more.

Participants can pick up nutrition facts, recipe booklets, vitamins and herbal supplements recommended by doctors, as well as enter to win gift certificates and other prizes.

Expert speakers will talk about how to reduce the risks of falls and injuries, management and treatment of osteoporosis. One of the key speakers, Dr. Hugo Higa of Aesthetic Vision Center, will discuss aging eye care, covering cataracts, glaucoma, mascular degeneration and cosmetic surgery for droopy lids that create vision problems.

The event will also include a demonstration of "Zumba," a fitness program for seniors that puts easy-to-learn dance steps to a Latin dance beat.

Entertainment will be provided by Na Kupuna O Koolau, a seniors group of musicians and dancers.

Other speakers include Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona and Honolulu Managing Director Kirk Caldwell, who will deliver a message from the mayor.

The fair is sponsored by Attention Plus Care, as a home care agency.
