CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES WITH CECILIO & KAPONO

No matter what your age is, what era you were born in or what your "typical" genre of music is, we all can sing at least one of C&K's songs. (Maybe it's "Good Time Together" — or do you like "Sunflowers"?) The duo has made an impact on Hawaii's musical scene that transcends every trend. Now Cecilio & Kapono are back with their high-class performances at The Royal Hawaiian's Curators of Hawaiian Music series. They'll be holding weekly concerts in the Monarch Room on Thursday nights — add a dinner package to make it even more lush.

For a "good time together," join the duo at 6:30 or 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays throughout November (except on Thanksgiving), and December right up through Dec. 24, for a special Christmas dinner and show. Kamaδina tickets are $25, with dinner available at an additional cost (the Christmas show has a different ticket price, too). Call 921-4600 for reservations or visit www.royal-hawaiian.com for more information.

WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART

Looking for a little inspiration? Check out the wraparound, three-dimensional mixed-media piece "Chirpie" by local artist Kamea Hadar at the Pacific Guardian Center, part of an exhibition of Hadar's work at the art space. It's one of his most ambitious, and largest, pieces.

Hadar says he's been exploring the advantages of incorporating sculpture with the traditions of oil painting.

The artist paints on stretched and curved canvas, warping the way we look at his work.

"By using a dimensional canvas surface, the art is able to go beyond the single sense of vision and starts to interact with the space, light and viewers," explains the artist, who earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of San Diego, studied in Paris, Madrid and Tel Aviv, and has also worked with artists such as Anne Namba Designs and Artflow Studios.

"My art includes certain elements of classical ideals, the new visual language developed in the 20th century, and my vision as a young artist at the beginning of the 21st century," he said.

The exhibition will be open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays until Jan. 26, with special showings with the artist available by request on Saturdays. Find it in Suite 100 of the Pacific Guardian Center, 737 Bishop St., Mauka Tower. For more information, call 373-5186 or visit www.kameagallery.com.

SALES & BARGAINS

• How's this for a perfect gift: blow your own glass ornament! Design and learn how to blow your own glass ornament yourself, or gift that experience to someone on your list at Island Glassworks in Kailua. Either way, we love that it's only $25 to have a one-on-one session with a skilled glassblower. (That's one recession-era gift our budget can handle.) Saturday classes are $25 per person, with no more than four students per hour, ages 10 and up. Pre-register by e-mailing info@islandglassworks.com, or call 263-4527. More info: www.islandglassworks.com.

• It's holiday party time and you may have shopping in mind. Don't forget to score new underthings! If you have to make a choice, do like we do and forget spending more money on a one-time party dress — borrow a friend's, or reuse your go-to LBD — and splurge on gorgeous lingerie. We found huge savings on super-cute (not to mention well-made) items at the Nordstrom fall clearance sale. Brands like Le Mystere, Cosabella, Wacoal and Calvin Klein can all be found, marked down at least 30 percent off. As a plus, the fit experts will help you feel comfortable figuring out the size that gives you that perfect fit. Tip: make it a set. Nothing makes you feel more pulled together (and sexy) than a matching lingerie set. Even if you're the only one who ever sees you in them, the boost to your ego will have you walking taller and sexier for sure. Nordstrom, Ala Moana Center; 953-6100, www.nordstrom.com.

• Save the date: This Saturday, Olive Boutique in Kailua turns 1! It's worth a drive over the hill for this event. Score 20 percent off everything in the store (excluding jewelry) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. There's live music and food at 6 p.m. Designer labels Ella Moss, Free People, Young Fabulous & Broke, Indah and Treesje Bags along with Kai fragrance and Egg Press greeting cards can all be found. Shop local at this independent boutique. Olive Boutique, 43 Kihapai St.; 263-9919; www.iheartolive.com.

• So you've got the ring ... but now you need the dress? If you're an eco-conscious bride on a budget, visit the Wedding Gowns for Charity Sale at the Hampton Court Clubhouse in Mililani Mauka, 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Affordable glitzy white, vintage, sample gowns and refashioned vintage gowns will be for sale. Visit http://weddinggowns4charity.blogspot.com. All proceeds go directly to Wai'anae Christian Women's Job Corps, cwjc.us.

• News to use: J.Crew-on-the-Island and Club Monaco in Ala Moana Center rolled out new November collections this week. That means even more goodies have been pushed to the back and prices slashed!

SNUGGIE UP TO NEW WEEZER ALBUM

Weezer is cozying up to rapper Lil Wayne and singing songs such as "I'm Your Daddy" on its new album, "Raditude," released Tuesday. But despite the braggadocio, the band hasn't completely abandoned its persona as rock 'n' roll geeks.

With the release of the new album, the band also followed through on its promise to release a Weezer-branded Snuggie — a blanket with sleeves.

The promotional item is available for purchase on the Weezer Web site, www.weezer.com, for $30, and the "Snuggie bundles" come with the Weezer CD.
