Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis left a 31-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons yesterday after taking a blow to the head.

Portis departed with 3:20 remaining in the first quarter after a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Thomas DeCoud. There was no penalty on the hit.

Portis was helped to his feet after being checked by the medical staff on the field. He appeared shaky at first, then walked off the field with a towel over his head.

Falcons receiver Brian Finneran left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury and did not return.

SIDELINE ENCOUNTER

REDSKINS' HALL WILL FILE COMPLAINT

Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall says Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith cursed at him and a Falcons assistant tried to "get some licks in" during a sideline melee yesterday.

Hall said he plans to file a complaint with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that Smith "cussed me out" and Falcons director of athletic performance Jeff Fish and others "put their hands on me."

Hall said he was trying to pull teammate LaRon Landry away from the Atlanta sideline after Landry was called for a late hit on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. Hall and Landry were surrounded by Falcons players and staff members.

Hall said he was trying to get away from Fish and others.

"After that, coach Smith came over to me, talking (expletive) to me, saying they were going to kick my (butt)," Hall said. "I stay in Atlanta during the offseason, so if Mike Smith wants to see me, he can definitely find me."

Hall, a former Falcons player, had talked all week of being bitter at the way he was treated when traded after the 2007 season. He played in Atlanta for four years.

ELSEWHERE

Bengals: Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry wasn't sure whether he'd play again this season after he broke his arm during a victory over Baltimore. Henry broke his left forearm just above the wrist when he was tackled by cornerback Fabian Washington after a 20-yard reception. Henry's back hit the ground and Washington landed on top of him.

Also, linebacker Keith Rivers strained his right calf in the second half and was on crutches after the game. He'll go for tests to determine the severity.

Bears: Chicago defensive backs Charles Tillman and Al Afalava, a Kahuku High alum, left the game against Arizona in the second quarter with shoulder injuries.

The Bears also lost three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Tommie Harris 65 seconds into the game when he was ejected for slugging Cardinals guard Deuce Lutui.

Panthers: Carolina starting linebacker Thomas Davis was helped off the field in the fourth quarter of the Panthers' game at New Orleans. Trainers appeared to be looking at Davis' right knee.

Lions: Detroit outside linebacker Ernie Sims left in the third quarter of a loss to Seattle after hurting his hamstring trying to track down Seahawks running back Julius Jones.
