The Marine Corps' Toys for Tots Hawaii drive is having its first Tricycle Cup competition Nov. 17 at Tamarind Park in Bishop Square.

Marines will collect donations from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band will perform a free concert from noon to 1 p.m. The three businesses whose employees donate the most to Toys for Tots will be recognized with Tricycle Cup trophies at a VIP reception on Nov. 19.

The 2009 Toys for Tots Hawaii effort kicks off Saturday, and given the tough economic climate, this year's goal is higher than ever: 45,000 toys for distribution to less-fortunate keiki.
