The opening day of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing is on today.

The first and second rounds of the Reef Hawaiian Pro men's contest is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach.

Wave-face heights are in the 4- to 8-foot range.

Among the surfers scheduled to compete today are four former Triple Crown champions from Hawai'i: Sunny Garcia, Derek Ho, Kaipo Jaquias and Myles Padaca. Garcia owns a record six Triple Crown titles.
