Advertiser Staff

Mental Health America of Hawai'i will hold a seminar on eating disorders tomorrow at Harris United Methodist Church near downtown Honolulu.

The seminar will have a panel featuring Anita Johnson, the director and co-founder of the Anorexia and Bulimia Center of Hawaii; Dr. Sonia Patel, founder and chief volunteer for the Po'o No'ono'o Foundation, and other experts.

The seminar, open to the public, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A $10 to $25 donation is requested.

Harris United Methodist Church is at the corner of Nu'uanu Avenue and Vineyard Boulevard.

The seminar will touch on assessing and treating eating disorders and the prevalence of eating disorders, which has one of the highest mortality rates of any mental illness. About 10 percent of high school students have eating disorders.
