Rhonda A.K. Mandawoub Akina, 52, of Hauula, died Sept. 25, 2009. Born in Kahuku. A beach lover who frequented Alligator Pond. Survived by life partner, Kamalani; sister, Deborah; brothers, Joseph and Robert. Scattering of ashes to be held at a future date.

Dorothy Eleanor "Benny" Benton Barrere, 96, of Dillon, Mont., formerly of Oahu and Hawaii, died Nov. 8, 2009. Born in Hilo, Hawaii. Volunteer and later a research associate at the Bishop Museum anthropology department; author; director and secretary of the Hawaiian Natural History Association at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park; designated a Distinguished Historian by the board of trustees of the Hawaiian Historical Society in 1992. Survived by daughters, Danielle Suzanne Barrere Stone and Michele Marie Barrere Stephen-Hassard; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Interment of both Dorothy and Waldron at Oahu Cemetery at a later date. Glen M. Blinde Sr., 91, of Honolulu, died Nov. 4, 2009. Born in Johnson, Neb. Retired general manager of Kodak Hawaii with 40 years of service; World War II U.S. Army veteran.
