HPU garners PacWest honors

Hawai'i Pacific took four of five individual awards on the 2009 All-Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Team that was announced last night.

Sophomore Carianne Makino was named Goalkeeper of the Year, redshirt freshman forward Meghan Fuller was selected both Newcomer and Freshman of the Year, and Michele Nagamine was voted Coach of the Year.

Dixie State senior midfielder Mikala Wilkes was named Player of the Year after leading the PacWest champion Red Storm to a 13-1 conference record and 14-4-0 overall mark.

Also earning first-team honors from Hawai'i schools were forwards Dyanne Anderson (HPU) and Emily Mearns (Brigham Young-Hawai'i), and midfielders Natasha Aiono (BYUH) and Amber Fuller (HPU).

Player of the Year: Mikala Wilkes (Dixie State)

Goalkeeper of the Year: Carianne Makino (Hawai'i Pacific)

Newcomer of the Year: Meghan Fuller (Hawai'i Pacific)

Freshman of the Year: Meghan Fuller (Hawai'i Pacific)

Coach of the Year: Michele Nagamine (Hawai'i Pacific)

FORWARDS
