Sarah Palin says she didn't know her daughter Bristol was sexually active before she learned the teenager was pregnant.

The former vice presidential candidate told ABC's Barbara Walters: "Truthfully, we were devastated."

Bristol was a high school senior when she gave birth to son Tripp in December. Her pregnancy was publicly announced just after Sarah Palin accepted John McCain's invitation to be his running mate.

ABC released that exchange between Walters and Palin yesterday. Portions of their interview begin airing Tuesday on "Good Morning America" and will be shown at length Friday on "20/20." Palin is promoting her new book, "Going Rogue."

HONORARY OSCARS PRESENTED AT DINNER

The Academy Awards won't be presented until March, but the first Oscar statuettes of the season were handed out last night at a private, black-tie dinner in Hollywood.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences broke with tradition and presented its honorary Oscars away from the televised ceremony. Actress Lauren Bacall, producer-director Roger Corman and cinematographer Gordon Willis each received Oscar statuettes at the inaugural Governors Awards event.

The winner of this year's Irving J. Thalberg Memorial Award, producer John Calley, also received his trophy at the star-studded dinner.

Annette Bening, Tom Hanks, Kirk Douglas, Anjelica Huston and Quentin Tarantino were presenters for the evening, which included 600 invited guests celebrating at the Grand Ballroom above the Kodak Theatre.

MADOFF BLAMED FOR GABOR'S TAX BILL

Zsa Zsa Gabor's lawyer blames convicted swindler Bernard Madoff for a hefty tax bill owed by his client.

According to documents obtained by The Associated Press on Friday, the Internal Revenue Service filed a lien of more than $118,000 for the years 2001 and 2002 against the 92-year-old actress on Oct. 5 in the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds.

Gabor lawyer Chris Fields estimates that Gabor lost about $7 million in Madoff's Ponzi scheme and the tax bill is part of the fallout. Fields says Gabor and husband Frederic von Anhalt are pulling together their resources and working out a payment plan with the IRS.

CZECHS MARK 20 YEARS SINCE REVOLUTION

Former Czech President Vaclav Havel opened the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Velvet Revolution with a concert attended by celebrities.

Underground rocker Lou Reed, soprano Renee Fleming and folk singer Joan Baez performed to a crowd of about 500 gathered at a 13th-century church in downtown Prague.

Havel, now 73, was co-author of the Charter 77 human rights manifesto and spent several years in Communist prisons before becoming Czechoslovakia's first president after the peaceful 1989 revolution toppled the Communist regime.
