BOISE, Idaho — Boise State coach Chris Petersen claims to not pay any heed to the BCS popularity contest. That would be the one that excluded his rampaging Broncos last year following a perfect regular season, and threatens to do so again this season.

Yet there was Petersen this week hanging a quote in the locker room from Robb Akey. The energetic coach of resurgent Idaho said he wanted to "take care of business," ruin his rival's BCS push and make the entire WAC mad at him for costing the conference the big bucks of having a team in the series.

And this was Petersen yesterday, after Kellen Moore threw four touchdown passes to Austin Pettis and tied a career high with five overall while the supposedly endangered No. 6 Broncos overwhelmed the shellshocked Vandals, 63-25:

"I think we'll probably drop about three or four notches."

Petersen then flashed a wry grin and tapped his feet, as if pleased with his jab at the pollsters who help decide the BCS.

Titus Young had a 100-yard kickoff return that was actually longer and Kyle Wilson returned an interception 71 yards for another score for the big-play Broncos (10-0, 5-0 WAC), who beat the Vandals (7-4, 4-3) for the 11th consecutive time.

Moore, the nation's passing efficiency leader, with 32 touchdowns and just three interceptions, passed Steve Young for 19th place on the Western Athletic Conference's list for career touchdown passes with 57.

NO. 9 LSU 24, LOUISIANA TECH 16

Keiland Williams ran for 116 yards and two second-half touchdowns, helping the host Tigers (8-2) fend off the upset-minded Bulldogs (3-7), who haven't beaten LSU since 1904, but led 13-10 at halftime.

Williams' first score, on a powerful 3-yard run that moved the pile, gave LSU a 17-13 lead midway through third quarter. He added a 9-yard TD in the fourth quarter with a little over seven minutes to go. Louisiana Tech beat Hawai'i, 27-6, Sept. 30.

NO. 21 WISCONSIN 45, MICHIGAN 24

Scott Tolzien tied a career high with four touchdown passes and scored on a sneak, as the host Badgers (8-2, 5-2) made the Wolverines' (5-6, 1-6) miserable Big Ten season even worse.

After a 4-0 start, the Wolverines (5-6, 1-6) now are reeling with their sixth straight conference loss. Wisconsin plays at Hawai'i, Dec. 5

SAM HOUSTON STATE 17, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 14

Vincent Dotson blocked a punt and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown and Chris Poullard scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter as the host Bearkats (5-5, 3-3 Southland) rallied past the Bears (5-5, 2-4).

Dotson's score gave the Bearkats their first lead, 10-7, with 8:12 left in the third quarter. Central Arkansas lost to Hawai'i, 25-20, Sept. 4.

UCLA 43, WASHINGTON STATE 7

Kevin Prince threw for 314 yards and ran for a touchdown, and Chane Moline ran for three touchdowns as the visiting Bruins (5-5, 2-5 Pac-10) pounded the Cougars (1-9, 0-7).

Washington State lost its seventh straight and was held to just 181 yards, while giving up 556 yards. Washington State lost to Hawai'i, 38-20, Sept. 12.

AIR FORCE 45, UNLV 17

Asher Clark ran for career highs of three touchdowns and 160 yards and the host Falcons (7-4, 5-2 Mountain West) rushed for 431 yards in romping past the Rebels (4-7, 2-5).

Clark scored on runs of 40, 24 and 2 yards. UNLV beat Hawai'i, 34-33, Sept. 19.

NEVADA 52, FRESNO STATE 14

Luke Lippincott rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns, and Vai Taua rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns as the host Wolf Pack (7-3, 6-0) pounded the Bulldogs (6-4, 5-2).

Colin Kaepernick added 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Nevada, which rolled up 461 yards. Nevada beat Hawai'i, 31-21, Oct. 31. Fresno State beat Hawai'i, 42-17, Oct. 10.

UTAH STATE 21, SAN JOSE STATE 9

Robert Turbin ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns as the host Aggies (3-7, 2-4) rushed for 381 yards on a snowy day to beat the Spartans (1-8, 0-5).

Turbin became the first running back to top 1,000 yards for a season since 2001 for the Aggies, who lost to Hawai'i, 49-36, Nov. 7. San Jose State will host Hawai'i on Saturday.

NAVY 35, DELAWARE 18

Ricky Dobbs ran for 100 yards and five touchdowns, breaking a school single-season record that had stood since 1917, as the host Midshipmen (8-3) beat the Blue Hens (6-4).

Dobbs leads the nation with 22 rushing touchdowns. Navy (8-3), which has already accepted a bid to the Texas Bowl, plays at Hawai'i Nov. 28.
