Police searching for suspects in armed robbery

Advertiser Staff

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in connection with the investigation of an armed robbery last week in Volcano.

On Nov. 9, Puna police responded to a reported robbery of two men who were sitting in a pickup truck in the Cooper Center parking lot just before 9 p.m.

The victims reported that a man approached their vehicle and pointed a handgun at the driver, ordered both men out of the truck and told them to lie face-down on the pavement.

He took the truck, personal belongings and an undetermined amount of cash. He was last seen heading east on Wright Road with the stolen vehicle.

The pickup is described as a blue 2001 Ford F-250 with a large white fiberglass fish box in its bed. Its license plate number is HBF 152.

Police ask that anyone with information about the case call Detective Norbert Serrao at 808-961-2255, the Kea'au police station at 808-966-5835, or the police non-emergency line at 808-935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 808-961-8300 in Hilo or 808-329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
