The Reef Hawaiian Pro men's surfing contest is on today at Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach.

Waves are in the 3- to 4-foot range.

The second and third rounds are scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Among the Hawai'i surfers expected to compete today are Sunny Garcia, Bruce Irons, Joel Centeio and Hank Gaskell.

The Reef Hawaiian Pro is the first event in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
