Education board to hold community meeting in Kona

HONOLULU – The Hawaii State Board of Education will hold its first community meeting of the 2009-10 academic year on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Konawaena High School in Kona on the Big Island.

The public is invited to attend the meeting to discuss public education and public library issues.

The meeting at Konawaena’s cafeteria will include a ceremony honoring public schools recognized for student achievement in the 2009-10 Hawaii Distinguished Schools Program. Hawaii P-20 also will make a presentation about the Board of Education Recognition Diploma, also known as the “Step Up” diploma, to inform interested parents and students from middle and high schools about the benefits of earning the diploma.
