Haleiwa man says roommate used debit card illegally

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 32-year-old Haleiwa man yesterday after his 57-year-old roommate told them the younger man used his debit card without authorization to buy a home computer on the Internet.

The older man told police he doesn’t receive regular statements on his debit card account and became curious when he used his own computer to review charges made with the card and found one dating back to May 12 for $2,630.27 for a computer.
The man told police he confronted his roommate and the younger man confessed to making the unauthorized computer purchase.
Police arrested the younger man yesterday on suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card.
