‘Aiea quarterback Chucky Kaahanui rushed for two touchdowns and senior linebacker Eric Badoyen blocked a potential game-tying extra point kick to lift Na Ali‘i to a 20-12 win over Lahainaluna in the quarterfinals of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II Football State Championships at ‘Aiea High School tonight.

Lahainaluna running back Jostin Carbajal scored on a 1-yard run at the 6:26 mark after the Lunas converted a Na Ali‘i turnover, recovering the ball on the 19. Lahainaluna missed it’s extra-point attempt.
‘Aiea evened the score on a dodging, scrambling, 32-yard run by Kaahanui with 5:37 left in the second quarter. Junior Nicholas Hiraoka’s kick gave Na Ali‘i the 7-6 advantage.
Kaahanui scored again in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard run with 2:55 to go, but the extra-point attempt missed low.
The Lunas closed to 13-12 on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Todd Rickard, Jr. to Pau‘la Toa with 1:19 left in the game but Lahainaluna’s extra-point attempt was blocked by Badoyen.
‘Aiea running back Anae Vaa added insurance with a 43-yard touchdown run with 20.8 seconds remaining.
