THE 'TWILIGHT' ZONE

Twihards all over the nation could barely contain themselves, anticipating the release of the second movie in the "Twilight" series, "New Moon."

The wait is over.

The real fanatics came out last night for the midnight showing of the movie, but those who try to avoid crowds of screaming girls and their equally smitten mothers will start to line up today for their chance to see the film and cheer on their favorite male in the Bella Swan (Kristin Stewart) triangle of love.

Never mind that we all know how it ends. That's not the point. The point is: Are you on team Edward (Robert Pattinson) or team Jacob (Taylor Lautner)? Shiny blood-sucking vampire or hunky, burly werewolf?

"New Moon," based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer, is the sequel to last year's mega hit "Twilight," and we'd bet our super secret stash of hardcover "Twilight" books that "New Moon" is going to be even bigger.

And for the record: We're team Jacob. There. We said it.

Consider "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (George Clooney, Meryl Streep) the anti-"Twilight." The Wes Anderson animated film is already a critics' darling, and is said to be smart, funny and inventive. It opens Wednesday.
