Advertiser Staff

A quintet headed by percussionist and recording artist von Baron will perform a show billed as a mix of “New Age on steroids,” jazz, and pop this Saturday at the Atherton.
The group also features Mark Tanoye, bass; Jeff Peterson, guitar; Dan Del Negro, keyboards; and Tim Tsukiyama, saxophone.
Tickets for the event are $25 general admission, $20 for Hawaii Public Radio members, and $15 for students with ID. Reservations are available at 955-8821 during business hours.
After twenty years of performing as a sideman, von Baron released his first album of New Age music in 2007. In his debut album, “Pangaea,” recorded under his own label, von Baron Music, LLC, he blends musical influences from Sting to Yanni and presents an eclectic combination of rhythms and instrumentation from around the world. His second album, “Souljourner,” released in May, continues this musical journey unifying New Age music and World Music into a genre von Baron refers to as “World Age Music.”
