Sunday tree lighting, block party will herald Christmas

Käne'ohe kicks off the Christmas season with a town and tree lighting ceremony that includes a block party, food and entertainment from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the police station on Kamehameha Highway and Waikalua Road.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann will entertain as part of the event to light up the site, including Ben Parker Elementary School, the fire station and Iwasaki Dental Clinic.

The free party will have 15 food booths with a variety of ethnic dishes.

Entertainment begins with Ledward Kaapana. Kapena, Hale Koa, Hula Halau Na O Wahine, Konno and others will also entertain.
