Catch the Hawaii Youth Symphony in two shows

More than 400 students from around the state will perform in the Hawaii Youth Symphony’s winter concerts tomorrow and Dec. 12.

This year, the concerts are drawing student musicians from Oçahu, Maui and the Big Island. At 4 p.m. tomorrow, two youth symphonies and a concert orchestra will play at the Blaisdell Concert Hall, in performances dedicated to late piano teacher Ellen Masaki.
Tickets are $18 general, $8 for students and seniors, and are available through the Blaisdell box office and Ticketmaster in advance (800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com), or at the concert hall box office tomorrow.
At 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12, the Boys & Girls Club Beginning Band and the Hawaii Youth Symphony String Program will play a free concert in the Kaimukï High School auditorium.
