UH-Hilo beats W. New Mexico

Bryan Ngo scored 21 points to lead four teammates in double figures as host Hawai'i-Hilo defeated Western New Mexico, 95-81, last night.

Brandon James added 16 points, Zachery Wilde had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Justin Smith and Lavell Shipman each had 13 points for the Vulcans (2-2), who led 41-31 at intermission.

Tony Riley Jr. scored 24 points for the visiting Mustangs (1-3).

WOMEN

HAWAI'I PACIFIC 91, CHAMINADE 57

Tiffany Wilson scored 18 points and Mana Hopkins 16, leading the Sea Warriors (1-2) over the Silverswords (0-1) in the opening game of the DII Tournament at Cannon Activities Center in Lä'ie.

Paris Gravely had 13 points, Jazzmin Awa-Williams had 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Genesis Lewis also had 10 points for HPU. Jamie Higa scored 12 and Kayci Will 11 for Chaminade.

BYU-HAWAI'I 68, HAWAI'I-HILO 59

Lindsey Sundin scored 13 points and the host Seasiders (1-0) rallied from a 31-27 halftime deficit to beat the Vulcans (1-4) in the second game of the DII Tournament.

Kristi Imai led UHH with 15 points. Hina Kimitete added 11 and Tressa Torres 10 for the Vulcans.
