Firefighters will continue searching the ocean waters off of Hana this afternoon in hopes of finding any sign of a well-known Hana couple who may have been swept away during a heavy rainfall on Thanksgiving.

"We did do a search this morning, but nothing turned up," said Maui Battalion Chief Frank Tam. "We're searching off shore."
The search this afternoon will depend on the weather, which was overcast this morning, Tam said.
The couple, Carl and Rae Lindquist, both 75, were last seen at the Hotal Hana Maui 9:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving . Their vehicle was found in a stream bed at 10:30 a.m. near their home on Ulaino Road on Saturday.
Rescuers searched the river bed to the ocean on Sunday and took to the air today, Tam said.
"Our primary search area is off-shore by air," Tam said. "We're looking for any sign of the victims."
The area received two inches of rain in an hour's period. The river. where the couple's SUV was found, was up to 12 feet or more on Thanksgiving.
The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary Tuesday and are well-known on Maui where they own Hana Coast Realty. Carl Lindquist is a founding partner of the Hana Coast Gallery and was formerly vice president and general manager of the Hotel Hana Maui.
