NFL: Vikings announce deal with Mall of America

Associated Press

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Mall of America is coming to Minnesota’s Metrodome.

The mall and the Minnesota Vikings said Thursday they’ve reached a three-year agreement on naming rights to the football field.
The field will be officially called Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome until the team’s lease expires in 2012. Neither party would discuss financial terms.
It is the second sponsorship in as many weeks for the Vikings, who are trying to find ways to make more money in the nearly 30-year-old facility in Minneapolis. The Vikings are near the bottom of the league in revenue and are trying to get approval for a new downtown stadium.
The Mall of America is in the southern suburb of Bloomington.
