Surfer hospitalized after being pulled from water

Advertiser Staff

A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition yesterday morning after being pulled from the waters at the North Shore surf spot known as Log Cabins.

Bryan Cheplic of the city Emergency Services Department said the man is believed to be in his 20s and a surfer.

Cheplic said the man was brought to shore by surfers. Wave faces were in the 3- to 5-foot range, Cheplic said.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to Ke Waena Road between Sunset Beach and Pupukea shortly after 7 a.m. They performed CPR on the man, stabilized him and took him to the hospital.
