Golf: Wilson makes PGA cut, McLachlin misses

Associated Press

VERONA, N.Y. — Dean Wilson shot a 3-under 69 today in the second round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship to make the cut in the PGA Tour event. Fellow Hawaii golfer Parker McLachlin shot a 2-over 74 and failed to advance to the final two rounds.

Wilson is tied for 51st at 2-under 142. McLachlin finished at 2-over 146.
Vaughn Taylor shot his second straight 67 for a one-shot lead. He was at 10-under 134.
Tied for second were Matt Kuchar (68), rookie Leif Olson (69), and Nicholas Thompson (67), whose 14-year-old sister Alexis was challenging for the lead at the Navistar LPGA Classic in Alabama.
Rookie Scott Piercy (66), Fredrik Jacobson (67), and Bo Van Pelt (66) were tied for fifth at 136. Van Pelt moved into contention with seven birdies on the back nine, six of them in a row, despite a steady late-afternoon drizzle that intensified toward dusk. Tim Petrovic (71), who shared the first-round lead with Olson, was at 7 under, tied with Australian rookie Aron Price (65), Jimmy Walker (69) and Troy Matteson (67).
