Hawaii Wins “What Book Got You Hooked?” Campaign

Advertiser staff

First Book, a nonprofit organization providing new books to children in need, has announced Hawaii as the winner of its “What Book Got You Hooked?” campaign.
The contest asked readers to share their memory of the first book that made reading fun and to vote for a state to receive 50,000 new children’s books to be distributed to programs serving children in need.
Online voters cast more than 90,000 votes to make Hawaii the top vote-getter.
First Book will distribute the books in the coming months to programs across the state serving predominantly children from low-income situations. Between now and the distribution, programs will have time to register with First Book and meet the eligibility requirements.
Programs can learn more and register online at http://www.firstbook.org/register. When the books are made available, registered groups in Hawaii will receive an email notification inviting them to apply.
