Miyajima drops back

Advertiser Staff

A third-round 77 dropped Maui's Shayna Miyajima further back at yesterday's second LPGA Sectional Qualifier in Florida.

Miyajima's total of 227 leaves her tied for 55th going into today's final round. The top 30 and ties advance to the LPGA's Final Qualifier in December.

Gwladys Nocera, of France, leads the tournament at 210 after shooting a 4-under-par 68 — the low round of the day and one of just three rounds in the 60s.

LEE OPENS WITH 71 TO TIE FOR 33RD

Pearl Country Club's Regan Lee is tied for 33rd after yesterday's opening round of the 33rd Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Lee shot a 1-under-par 71, with nines of 34-37. The leaders are PGA apprentices Ben Meyers, of Minnesota, and Christopher Marinaro, from South Carolina. Both shot 65.

Waikoloa's Eric Dugas shot 38-37—75.

After today's second round, the field will be reduced to the low 70 scorers and ties. The Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Champion will collect $9,000.
